Spiritual Adultery

11-2 To commit idolatry is to allow something to capture your desire other than Me. It is to commit spiritual adultery. Many things can be idols . . . money, self-glorification, control, influence, bodily desires, peer approval, comfort, happiness, justice. The phrase, “eating meat sacrificed to idols,” means to approve of idols and accept them as legitimate and appropriate whether in your own life or in the lives of others. 1 Corinthians 10:21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we? 23 All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience’ sake; 29 I mean not your own conscience, but the other man’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience? 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. Galatians 4:8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. Deuteronomy 6: 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One. 5 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.…

Let Us remove the Love-blockers within you. What blocks you from receiving Our Love? Fear, pride, jealousy, lust, greed, idolatry, anger, unforgiveness, uncontrolled emotion, religion . . . these will replace Our Love in your heart. They must be removed so Truth and Life can take over. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality, 10 no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Peter 2:1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

Proverbs 4 – The Father’s Instruction for intimacy

Are you willing to know what is in your heart that distracts or prevents you from having more of Me? Ask Me and I will show you if you really want to know. I want nothing to come between you and Me. I want all idols torn down because they prevent intimacy between Us. That is why I hate idolatry . . . because I love you and want nothing less than complete intimacy with you. Proverbs 4:10 Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. 11 I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. 12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble. 20 My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.
